Recommended Netflix Binge Watching TV Series

I was closing 2021 in 5 different cities within 2 weeks and opening 2022 also in 5 different cities within 2 weeks. That life between plane to plane is not always giddy, lots of times involves early morning at wee hours in the airport, delayed flight due to bad weather or simply restless on board. Yet I found some of these Netflix series help me kill the time. 🙂

Recommended Netflix Binge Watching TV Series

1. The Bold Type

It’s a story of 3 close knit girlfriends with their own uniqueness trying to figure out life while chasing love and career in New York City. Working at the same office: Jane Sloan, a smart writer but up tight, a little bit old fashioned girl. Tiny is her nick name coz she’s short. Then there’s Sutton Brady, a girl from a small town who’s trying to climb her ladder of success. She’s gorgeous and a hardworking person. The last member of the gang is Katie Adison, the privileged girl who knows what she wants coz her parents raised her right.

The Bold Type

It’s so much fun watching them running around the Big Apple with cute inspiring new-fashioned style (well they work in a magazine). Each episode is just refreshing, they’re not just bringing cheesy drama but recent (sometimes global) issues wrapped into very contextual daily life. Personally, it’s a mind opening to certain topics that I’ve always questioned myself of. Geez, watching this series kinda remind me of my own friendship in college. I got this group of girlfriends who were so close and after graduated 3 out 5 girls were of course working in the same office! So, we got to continue giggling over boys and our crushes. Lol. Really, it is a must watch series.

4 Seasons in Netflix, around 45 min each episode.

2. Emily in Paris

Oh, who doesn’t love this movie? Funny and witty, great sense of comedy with lots of beautiful scenes of Paris and amazing apparel, not to mention the feminism ideas and of course romance, it’s such an eye candy series that I always look forward to. The plot revolves around Emily Cooper (obviously as in the title lol) who was unexpectedly gotta move to Paris because of the job opportunity. Of how she tried to fit in in the new environment who was reluctant to have her, of how she got a culture shock and of how ignorant she was at first but later tried to adjust herself in the foreign country.

I admire her persistence and the amount of self-love she has that she can always bounce back even after a mortifying incident. This series will make you wanna go to Paris as soon as the pandemic is over. Well, I do. Lol. Btw, it has great soundtracks too!

2 seasons now and renewed to 3 and 4 season (can’t wait!), about 25-30 minutes per episode.

3. Pretty Smart

Hilarious. I love it! I laughed hard. It’s about 2 sisters who happen very different and even going farther because they lived with each parents after they divorced. Chelsea, the smart one and Claire, the pretty one. Chelsea is visiting Claire in LA and end up unexpectedly lives there. The first 2 episodes kinda boring but it hit it off on the 3rd episode though. Sister bonding with love triangle scene and 2 other friends are just adorable. This series freshen up my mood. Now it’s on their 1st season consists of 10 episodes, around 25 min each. Cross fingers it will be renewed.

4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Watching this series since a year ago actually yet I still find it entertaining. All drama and comedy, relationship, friendship and colleague wrapped in one. What I found it interesting is all the characters are quirky and somehow resonates to real life. Jake Peralta, the immature yet fun detective who sometimes can be irresponsible (d*mn I know that kind of person), Amy Santiago, the people pleaser who consistently needs an approval of herself, the bitchy Rosa Diaz, and many more. It is about a group of people in the precinct trying to solve cases in a funny and uncanny way. Awesome!  Go binge watching it, 7 season already. Can’t wait for the 8th

5. It’s Bruno! (2019, 1 Season, 20 minutes)

I never knew that a simple idea can be this good. It is about a man who obsessed to his adorable dog. I laughed myself hard in the episodes about dog’s poop and dog walker. It really is simple yet delightful. The humor is so New Yorker typical. Some will find it odd or perhaps dislike it but if you’re an animal lover or you have dog, then you can relate to the plot. Oh, btw Malcolm (Bruno’s owner) looks like my little brother only fairer. Lol. Watching this, I feel like watching my bro in every day life.

Those are my Netflix recommendation. Yeah, I am more to sitcom, romcom or upbeat drama kind of person.

Oh btw, not all Netflix’s TV Series are that good (or maybe it’s just not my preference). Take Friends from College for example. This series is somehow depressing for me, so loud, so noisy. No wonder it got cancelled after 2 seasons only. And there’s this The Hookup Plan. I can’t recommend this series yet it is adequate I guess. Some parts resonates well to my friendship life. I think I am gonna write the review separately. Not because it is that good but it kinda reminds me of my friendship with late Rosita.

Have a great weekend, girls! What’s your Netflix’s must watch show?
